Biography
John Pellew worked in oil and acrylic but received much praise for his watercolors and authored three books on painting: Acrylic Landscape Painting, 1968, Painting in Watercolor, 1969, Oil Painting Outdoors, 1971. During his career he worked art director for Colliers magazine in New York, and was on the staff of The Famous Artist School in Westport and faculty at Silvermine. He was a member of the National Academy of Design, The Salmagundi Club, Allied Artists of America and The American Watercolor Society. His primary residences throughout his career were Astoria, New York and Norwalk, Connecticut.
