Oscar Frederick Howard was born in Syracuse, NY and died in Westport, CT. He was an illustrator and cartoonist who worked for newspapers and important magazines like the New Yorker. He was known for human activity, humor, and whimsy. He often worked in conte crayon. He studied at the Art Students League and exhibited at the Whitney Museum. He was a member of the Society of Independent Artists. Howard married Lila Audubon in 1912.
